Check the pressure gauge
Look at the pressure gauge on the front of the boiler. If it reads below about 1 bar when the heating is cold, low pressure is the likely cause.
What you can do
- Switch the boiler off and let it cool.
- Re-pressurise it using the filling loop as described in your manual, to between 1 and 1.5 bar.
- Reset the boiler using the reset button as the manual says, and see if it fires up.
If the code comes back
If F1 returns within days, the system is losing water. That means a leak or a faulty part, and it needs a Gas Safe registered engineer to find it. Topping up repeatedly is not a fix.
Other fault codes
Other makes use different codes for different faults. A photo of the code and the boiler's make and model helps us tell you quickly what it means.
